After finishing this book, I was longing for the next in line! I was so sad to learn that the third in the series would not be out til 2017. I lived and breathed and adventured along with the characters and fell deeply in love with the best of them to me, Homer, our hero's dog. I was amazed and delighted when they began to dig up ultra-modern mechanical artifacts to use in conjunction with magic in this post apocalyptic world. What a wonderful blend of then and now and then. There was a lot of moralizing as I have seen complained of but which of us couldn't use some of that in our lives, eh? A bit never hurts and it didn't impede the strength or flavor or rhythm of the tale. I was wishing all the way through that I was reading a chapter a night to my own children, tucked up in bed, eyes gleaming with excitement and a million questions starting on their lips. Very satisfying. So much so, in fact, that I sent right off for the Thinblade series and have now read them all. Thank you Mr. Wells!!Product details

The Dragon Codex Dragonfall Book 2 eBook David A Wells Reviews
VERY well thought out with lots of intriguing action. The characters are very believable and likeable. The villains are very evil entities. The Hero and Heroine are very heroic. The author has blended every one and everything together to make an outstanding epic adventure. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of the next book.
This was a very entertaining book. It had shades of Dies the Fire and Terry Brook’s Armageddon’s Children series, which are also set in a post-apocalyptic Pacific Northwest setting. I mean that as a compliment, as this story is no knock-off of its more famous cousins. The characters are engaging (except for the ever-annoying Frank), and its a fun story with very little downtime.
The author is great at making you feel a part of the story. Characters are believable and easy to relate to. This series is a wonderful blend of sci-fi and fantasy.
The Dragons Codex is a smooth segue from the first book. New characters join the struggle and existing plot lines get deeper and more complex. Can't wait for book 3 to tie things up. But I'll also probably be sad whem it's all done.
I really enjoyed book one and book two continued exactly where it ended. I hate it when years have gone by.
The main character Ben and his loyal friends have developed from boys, young men and women into more mature individuals. All except his hopeless twin with his entitled outlook on life. He is as despicable as Ben is honorable, kind and loyal. With his wonderful dog, Homer, always at his side, they fight on against impossible odds.
The story so far is great, but the characterization and character interactions leave something to be desired. Some of the character interactions are Cliché and at times out of place and the Characterizations are transparent and stereotypical. It has gotten better over the course of the two books, but it seems with each new character you immediately know where they fit in/how they will react. The author is just a bit heavy handed with the characterization. But the story itself its pretty awesome and I can't wait to read the finally.
This is the second book in the series. First book was very good and introduce you to the characters. Now the story continues then a couple of new characters are added. They had even more to the story more technology and more Magic. I can tell you I really enjoy the approach of mixing technology and Magic together in a post-apocalyptic world. Bend main character gets it you'll both in his adventures. His friends mostly non-magic and a non technologically inclined are there to help him and support him. I really do like that the fact that he's not invincible and gets his butt kicked quite a bit, but you're always Rises back up and try to learn to fight more. I'm looking forward to the third book in the series a dragon's Fang to see where the story is going to go.
I generally enjoy the authors work, but this series is far below his abilities. So much so, I double checked to make sure it was the same author. The storyline is weak and unbelievable, even for a fantasy tale. Even the writing is substandard, which leads me to believe he either had truly gifted editors for his other work, or he just didn't care about this series at all. Very disappointing.
